Progress Report: Day 33 of 70

Yippeee! Big improvements on last week again. I'm going to try to take it a little easier for the next week. I can't believe I'm almost hitting my target already - the purple dot on the far right - at the time I thought that was pretty ambitious.

And check out my screen-capping progress! It's all thanks to my upgrade from Paint (LOL!) to Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 - this thing is great, and it's free too! Highly recommended.

  • good idea to take it easy for a week. You're running hard and your body could use some easy running. Keep it up.

btw, you can find my e-mail address in my profile.

  • Hi Jenny ... thanks for stopping by my blog. Looks like your coming right along with your running improvement. As you figured out, it takes time to get in shape. But you've got nothing but time on your side. Within the next year, you'll be looking back at your iniial charts with disbelief. Your daily easy runs will be up to the 10 - 16km range and you'll be sneaking in 5km quickies on your rest days.

Did you really get your heart rate up 210? That's great! It means your heart is capable of pushing a lot of blood through your body (I can only dream of having a Max HR anywhere near that).

As for your training ... once you're up to running 30 minutes regularly at some reasonable pace, starting to work on a 5K strategy is a great idea. Once you get a couple of 5Ks completed you can move on to a 10K then 20K and 1/2 marathon. When that's complete, you'll be ready to tackle the 30K and marathon. But I'll warn you early. This is a very addictive sport. Once you start, it feels way too good to stop.

    Good luck.

  • Hi Jenny,
Thanks for all your comments! I've finally got a few free moments to do some blog-catch-up. I enjoyed reading through your blog and think you are doing great with your training! Keep it up and you'll be breezing through the miles in no time.

By the way, I especially liked the post with all the possible profile pics. It was fun seeing you in all those different poses and styles!

  • Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I love that my stupidly high heart rate is actually a good thing! This is a great discovery because I always thought it just reflected how terribly unfit I'd become. Great news :-)
